Curriculum

“Think of the curriculum as a forecast of possibilities within an arena of opportunities”

Carla Rinaldi

Intent

The ACE curriculum is designed around a clear, ambitious educational vision: to deliver a rich, holistic education rooted in Christian values that enables every child to flourish. Rather than relying solely on knowledge acquisition, the curriculum seeks to nurture the whole child—fostering academic excellence, spiritual depth, and personal resilience.

Core Objectives and Ambitions

  • Ambitious Goals for Every Child: Drive unapologetically ambitious outcomes that foster a lifelong love of learning, build self-confidence, and close the disadvantage gap across all key curriculum areas.
  • Deep Knowledge & Breadth of Study: Challenge pupils to secure knowledge and understanding embedded in long-term memory across a wide, balanced range of subjects.
  • Holistic Personal Development: Cultivate key learning attributes so that children become resilient, independent, reflective risk-takers, thinkers, and problem solvers.
  • Values & Moral Framework: Embed foundational Christian values—Thankfulness, Courage, Koinonia & Dignity—into daily school life, encouraging respect for other faiths, nature, and a strong social conscience.
  • Vocabulary & Reading Flourishing: Nurture a deep love of reading beyond scheme books and build a rich vocabulary that pupils apply confidently in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Well-Being & Future Preparation: Prioritise mental health, physical safety, and emotional resilience, equipping students with the critical thinking skills needed for future citizenship.

Implementation

ACE translates its ambitious intent into classroom practice through evidence-based pedagogy, adaptive teaching, and a responsive, child-centred curriculum structure. Teaching is designed to engage, challenge, and inspire pupils while catering to individual learning needs.

Key Implementation Pillars

  • Quality First & Inclusive Teaching: High-quality, adaptive teaching tailored to up-to-date pedagogical principles. Lessons emphasise retrieval practice, growth mindsets, and appropriate scaffolding so that all pupils, including those with SEND, make strong progress.
  • Bespoke & Sequenced Curriculum: Subject structures are thoughtfully sequenced to build on prior learning. High-quality texts underpin cross-curricular learning themes, creating meaningful context and promoting reading depth.
  • Staff Empowerment & Professional Development: Ongoing professional learning ensures teachers possess the expertise, subject knowledge, and confidence to deliver robust, high-impact lessons across all subjects.
  • Cultural Capital & Enriching Experiences: Broadening horizons through specialised instruction, including music lessons and PE, along with trips & residentials
  • Safeguarding & Life Skills Education: Comprehensive personal education covering online safety, drug/alcohol awareness, relationship education, and British Values
  • Active Student Voice & Participation: Empowering pupils through leadership opportunities such as play leaders, to actively contribute to school decision-making and community initiatives.

Impact

The impact of the ACE curriculum is evaluated across emotional, social, and academic domains to ensure that learning leads to sustained knowledge, personal growth, and high achievement.

Outcomes and Evaluation Framework

  • Attainment & Progress: Pupils attain well and make good progress relative to national baselines.
  • Personal Growth & Behaviour: Pupils demonstrate core values in their daily conduct, making responsible choices regarding safety, respect, and social responsibility.
  • Parent & Community Trust: Strong parental alignment and high satisfaction rates reflect a safe, welcoming, and nurturing school culture.
  • Continuous Evaluation Practices: Curriculum efficacy is rigorously monitored using national performance metrics, internal tracking data, active pupil voice feedback, and external validation through OFSTED, SIAMS, and SIP inspections.
