Meet our Children's Chaplains
A Cup of Kindness
Our Children's Chaplains planned a wonderful workshop so that children at Altrincham could apply what they had been learning about 'Koinonia' and 'Empathy'. This was a perfect 'door' opportunity and an activity with spiritually developed everyone involved to 'think of others'.
The children took cellophane cones and filled them with hot chocolate powder, topping them with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Next, they took a tag and wrote some kind words onto it. Using some ribbon the cone was tied and the tag was attached.
The children could then choose someone they know to donate their cup of kindness to. This might be a family member, a friend or a neighbour and was the perfect way just to say, "I am thinking of you."
Remembrance Day
The Children's Chaplains wanted to encourage the staff and children to remember the sacrifices that people in the armed services made in the past and continue to make today. They planned a poppy making activity and used a prayer that they found on the Church of England's website to help with reflection.
This is the prayer they used:
The Children's Chaplains at Altrincham CE Primary recently planned and delivered their very first worship session, focusing on the theme of Easter. Drawing from their extensive learning and training, they engaged both staff and pupils in a thought-provoking exploration of the symbolism of the cross and its connection to Easter.
Participants were invited to reflect on the various crosses they encounter in their daily lives, culminating in a deeper understanding of the cross that Jesus died on for the good of others. The session featured a prayer crafted by the Chaplains specifically for this occasion, enhancing the spiritual journey of all involved.
In addition to this meaningful dialogue, the Chaplains encouraged their peers to consider other religious symbols present in our local and wider community, further fostering the school's value of koinonia. Their engaging approach and insightful content made this worship session a memorable experience for everyone.
