Please see below in the document entitled VAR2648 that on the 7 November 2025, the Schools Adjudicator formally approved a proposed variation to the determined admission arrangements for Altrincham Church of England (Aided) Primary School for the 2026/27 academic year. Essentially, the school will be one form entry going forward with a pupil admission number of 30 into Reception. The document and letter to parents explains fully the reasoning behind this decision. Please then see the updated Admissions Policy for 26/27 which informs policy thereafter.

Applications for Nursery September 2026 must be submitted by January 31st 2026. 

Please complete the relevant form below  - ACE Application form Nursery - and return to the school office in person or at altrinchamce.admin@trafford.gov.uk by the dates noted above.

Compulsory school age

Most children start Reception class in the September after their fourth birthday. If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, they are eligible to start school from 1 September 2026.

The latest time they may start is when they reach compulsory school age. A child reaches compulsory school age on the prescribed day following their fifth birthday (or on his or her fifth birthday if it falls on a prescribed day). The prescribed days are 31 December, 31 March and 31 August.

Applying for a Reception place at Altrincham C of E Primary School

In addition to completing a Trafford application form (Trafford residents Primary Applications), a completed ACE Supplementary School Application (below) for Reception children should be received by the school in line with the date set by Trafford Admissions.  

In-year admissions

An 'in-year application' is when a child applies to transfer from one school to another during the school year. It includes families who have recently moved to Trafford from another area. 

You must submit an application through the Trafford online portal here: Trafford In-year applications. They will forward your application details to us to process. We also ask families to fill in and submit an 'ACE Supplementary School Application Form Rec-6' (see below) to help with processing applications in line with our admissions policy. When a place in the relevant year group becomes available, families will be notified of a potential place and invited to visit the school.
